“Clean Wednesday” to be held in Perm City
On September 9, 16 and 23 all those interested can take part in plogging activities – jogging combined with picking up litter. This ecology action will take place in the Lipovaya Gora (Lime tree mountain) Nature Reserve, in Upper Kuriya and Serebryansky Park.
According to the organisers, the action is about jogging while stopping to pick up trash – not all places are accessible for garbage collecting machines.
The action will cover several locations in the city. On September 9, 2020 the volunteers will clean up a public waking trail in the Lipovaya Gora (Lime tree Mountain) Reserve, on September 16 – the public trail in “Upper Kuriya”. On September 23 the ploggers are welcome to join the public trail named “Following Mindovsky” in Serebryansky Park. The events are scheduled from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The participants will be members of educational and voluntary organisations, community groups, media and individual residents. Registration is at vooppgo@mail.ru.
The events will be organised in full compliance with official safety requirements including social distancing, wearing masks, using sanitizers and organised temperature control.
The ecological action “Clean Wednesday” has become an annual event expanding in its scope and aiming at promoting healthy lifestyle and jogging as mass sport activity, as well as attracting the public attention to the issue of green areas pollution by household waste and the need for a caring and responsible attitude to nature. In 2019 the event gathered about 150 participants who collected over 1.5 tons of litter.
